The Lighthouse Award, which recognizes demonstrated innovation, is awarded to a growth-stage company in Illinois based on both public voting and scores from a large, distinguished judging panel. Fieldglass accepted the award at the CityLIGHTS Awards Gala at Union Station this month, alongside other CityLIGHTS award-winners that include data storage company Cleversafe, Justyn Howard of SproutSocial, J.B. Pritzker of New World Ventures and other Chicago winners.

“We have called Chicago home for more than a dozen years now, and are very proud to be seen as representative of our city’s technology growth,” Fieldglass CEO Jai Shekhawat said. “The ITA has done a terrific job of helping to cultivate an innovative technology culture here in the city, and any association to their hard work is appreciated.”

As the largest provider (by far!) in the Vendor Management System industry, Fieldglass provides SaaS solutions for more than five million users and 200 customers including American Airlines, BMC Software, CVS Caremark, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Panasonic, Salesforce, United Airlines and Verizon.

Since founding in 1999, Fieldglass worked its way through a “long, six-year road to becoming cashflow positive,” Shekhawat said, to be being valued at over $220 million in 2010. Now in 2013, Shekhawat said he has his eyes on new areas of Europe and Asia.

“In certain countries like Germany and Japan, there are unique, complex regulations around using contingent labor; to help facilitate our growth in these areas, we’ve been adding new functionality and features that enable organizations to easily adopt our technology to meet these requirements,” Shekhawat said. “For all of our customers, we continue to develop new ways to make our product as easy as possible to use.”
