Don't let the snow slow you down! It's time to ignore the changing weather and focus on getting out there to the hottest tech events in Chicago this week.

1. Designing Your Own Education in the Post-University Era, March 23 at 6 p.m.

With an ever evolving landscape of tools, trends, and methodologies that shape our work, ongoing education is critical to success. Burton will walk you through a trio of approaches he employs at IDEO to learn new skills, experiment with different technologies, and evaluate contemporary and evolving approaches to design.

2. Startup Game Changers Chicago, March 24 at 8 a.m.

Startup Game Changer will help you take your startup to the next level with actionable tips from insiders within the Chicago startup ecosystem. This 2-hour free breakfast session will provide the tools you need to accelerate the growth and success of your business.

3. Building a Global Merchant Payment Service at Groupon by Shane and Jason, March 24 at 12 p.m.

Shane Stanford and Jason Yanowitz will talk as part of the Finance Engineering team at Groupon. Over the last four years, their Rails service has processed lots of dollars (and other currencies) and seamlessly recovered from millions of blips, outages, and other errors. This is a real world talk that is more than just “solved challenge foo with method bar.”

4. Syndio March Webinar, March 24 at 1 p.m.

Syndio is taking people analytics to the next level. Join our March webinar to learn how Fortune 500 companies are changing the way they look at HR data with our tools.

5. Techstars Open House: Hack Demo Night, March 24 at 6 p.m.

We're inviting Chicago's tech community to show-and-tell the most interesting problems and projects they've been working on. This is an opportunity to demo something you've built (or are building), discuss the problems you're addressing and how you're attacking them, as well as learn from others doing the same.

6. Panel w/ Jim Jacoby, Brian Burkhart, Shannon Smith and Randy Ellis, March 25 at 6 p.m.

How do you find meaning in your career? Using real life examples from technology/digitally focused business owners, this panel will seek to discover the root cause behind the work and drive to contribute. Exploring everything from relationship building to craftsmanship, our panelists will cover the things that make them tick and the challenges and successes along the way.

7. IoT: More than Just a Buzzword, March 25 at 6 p.m.

For this event, we're talking to several panelists whose companies specialize in interconnected devices, whether they be for businesses, for the home, or wearables, and asking them the hard question: What is the Internet of Things to YOU? We'll also be talking about the future of this phenomenon.

Have a great week Chicago and be sure to check out our events calendar for all the other tech events happening around town.
