The Ramblers have arrived.

Loyola University Chicago announced this week they now have a 75,000 square foot designated workspace dedicated to digital entrepreneurship at 1871.

Loyola’s workspace is in what Uygur called “University Corridor," joining DeVry University, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois.

“It will mean that we will provide a great avenue for students to do pretty much anything entrepreneurial,” Ugur Uygur, assistant professor at Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business, said. “We have a growing entrepreneurship program at Loyola, and this partnership will allow us to actually connect with the entrepreneurship community in Chicago.”

Uygur said Loyola is still hammering out the policies and procedures, and the university hopes to have a webpage up with all the details surrounding the space by the end of the month. He said the likely protocol will involve students filling out an application form on the webpage to use the space. Then, Uygur envisions approved students reserving the space for hours at a time.

With the workspace Loyola students will connect with Chicago’s entrepreneurship scene through events and special programming, not to mention in-person interaction with venture capitalists and potential corporate associates.

“Our relationships with universities have been essential in our ongoing effort to expand innovation and entrepreneurship throughout Chicago,” 1871 CEO Howard Tullman said in a statement. “Having university members and student entrepreneurs as a part of 1871 creates new and exciting opportunities for everyone. We are thrilled to welcome Loyola to our community.”
