Chicago-based WeDeliver, the delivery platform that enables same-day delivery for over 100 merchants in the Chicagoland area, announced today it has been acquired by Deliv, a leading crowdsourced and same-day delivery company based out of Silicon Valley.

WeDeliver launched in 2013 after founders Jimmy Odom, Daniela Bolzmann, and Kirk Lashley took first place in the November 2012 Startup Weekend.

Since then, the company has partnered with a number of local businesses, including Trunk Club, Barneys New York, grocery store Plum Market, and popular doughnut shop, Glazed and Infused.

“When you look at the two organizations, Deliv is the largest in the same-day delivery space,” said Odom, CEO of WeDeliver. “They have the largest footprint. With their focus on the big-box omnichannel retailers, and our focus on hyper local retailers, we’ve taken those two knowledge segments and started to meld them in order to become the largest platform across both industries. That’s why this partnership makes so much sense.”

According to the Chicago Tribune, Odom will be joining Deliv to oversee its local practice across the country, while remaining based here in Chicago. The companies have yet to decide whether or not WeDeliver’s nine full-time employees will head to Deliv’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

Hot in its quest to expand nationally, Deliv works with over 250 national retailers like Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Foot Locker, in addition to the country's six largest mall operators. Its service is already available in eight markets—Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Northern New Jersey, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

"WeDeliver has built a stellar reputation as the premier same-day delivery service for merchants in Chicago, providing service for some of the finest and most popular local merchants," Daphne Carmeli, founder and CEO of Deliv, said in a statement. "We are natural partners as we both share the obsession for providing a world class customer experience, one delivery at a time."

Odom says he’s grateful for the startup environment in Chicago that has helped lead to his successes thus far.

“I truly believe that without the Chicago community, we would not be where we are,” he said. “It’s because of the Chicago community—both it’s business leaders, as well as its mentors, and all of my entrepreneurial peers and friends— that we’ve gotten to this point. That community has helped us grow as entrepreneurs, it’s helped us grow a company, it’s helped us service the community as a whole, and it’s really helped me grow as a person. Without it, I don’t think we’d have the same results.”
