Home Chef raises $5M Series A
Chicago-based Home Chef, which provides a subscription service for healthy, easy-to-cook meals pre-package with the ingredients and recipes you need to cook them, this week raised a $5 million Series A. In December of last year, the e-commerce company raised an additional $750,000 from investors like Belly co-founder Craig Ulliot and North Pond restaurant owner Rich Mott.

ITA’s Talent Advisory Board wants to help your company find tech talent
This week, the Illinois Technology Association announced introduction of the Talent Advisory Board, in a move to help companies source tech talent and improve Chicago’s reputation as a talent hub. The panel consists of 10 representatives from some of the city’s top tech companies, including HR and recruiting executives from GrubHub, Raise, Belly, and kCura and will meet quarterly. Trustwave acquisition by Singtel finalized
This week, Trustwave announced that its acquisition by Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) has been completed. The deal, which was originally announced last April, saw the Chicago-based Trustwave reportedly sold for $810 million. Trustwave is a company that helps businesses fight cybercrime, protect data and reduce security risk and will continue to act as a standalone brand.

Google Express is coming to the Chicagoland suburbs
Google announced on Tuesday that its same-day delivery service Google Express is expanding to millions of new customers across the midwest. Google Express launched last year in October in Chicago, and it partners with retailers to deliver same-day orders. A new app for connecting with friends launches in Chicago
Brunch, a new app for spontaneously connecting with friends and family in your area, this week launched in the Apple App Store. Unlike group texting, messages posted on Brunch only show up to nearby friends, who can comment on it or reply. Brunch also announced a fundraising round, led by angel investors from Chicago’s tech industry.
