5 days until the biggest day of my life

In five days (Sat, Nov 23) 9 months of continuous work is going to come to fruition in the form of the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration at Union Station's Great Hall. This is without a doubt the biggest undertaking of my life and the hardest thing that I've ever had to do. This is me chasing my dreams and in case you were wondering what's going through my mind/body right now, here it is:

  • The amount of pressure and anxiety that I feel is unlike anything I've experienced before. It can be overwhelming at times and the key has been managing it as best I can. I'm an eternal optimist so I'm alway trying to think about positive thoughts but the stress of something like this can get to even the most positive of people. I've only had one or two times where I got really down, which I don't think is bad considering the circumstances, and thankfully it didn't last long. I know that I have to be mentally and emotionally sharp and hold it together for the next 5 days and if I do so that great things will come of it.
  • I've never thrown an event of this magnitude before and knowing that you only have 5 days to sell 1000+ tickets is pretty daunting. Human nature is to wait until the last minute for everything, and buying tickets to events is no exception. This is not an easy pill to swallow. I have 100% faith in this event and the marketing plan that we have in place. Since this is the first year that we've thrown this event we've had to do everything possible to get the word out and let people know that this exists. We are selling a celebration dealing with bacon, sports, beer and fun. We aren't reinventing the wheel and if you like those four things then you'll like our Celebration. Simple as that. Believing in yourself, your team, and what you are doing is absolutely essential to being successful in life. Even in those times when it doesn't look good you've got to keep the faith.
  • When all is said and done this will be one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. There's no playbook on how to turn a sports blog into the awesomest sports media company ever or how to throw a 2000 person party at Union Station. There is no doubt that I'll be a better person and entrepreneur after this.
  • Have fun. I live by the mantra "live every day like it's a Girl Talk concert" and fun is at the center of why we are throwing the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration. It's very easy to get away from this because of all the stress and "business things" that are going on. Thankfully all it takes is a little music, some dancing at my desk, and BOOM! i'm feeling good and ready to conquor the world.

There you have it folks. That's what's going on in the mind of a 33 year old entrepreneur who is days away from realizing his dreams. If you dig Bacon, Sports and Beer then you should definitely attend the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration

BOOMSHAKALAKA!
