In mid November, my friend and mentor Anthony had introduced me to his entrepreneur friend Sean Everett. Sean had been a pretty successful entrepreneur and had raised a couple million in Venture Capital. By that time, I had been studying the Venture Capital and startup space for a couple of months.

We got on Skype and Sean had somehow made a reference to a guy named Kevin Systrom. "Who??",  I said. Sean was puzzled. "Uh, you know, Kevin Systrom of Instagram".

That was a deflating moment. I had not only been studying the space but was also using the flip-flopping product! I blushed. Sean went on without hesitation. By the end of the conversation he had convinced me that I needed to learn how to do computer programming.

I agreed. For the last 2-3 months of Drexel, my friend Matt and I had pitched the board members of the Drexel Incubator every week. We had no idea what we were doing and couldn't build any of the ideas we said. I was tired of that.

After learning some programming on my own via Codecademy - highly recommend it! - I was fortunate enough to have one of my many unofficial Nigerian uncles give me half the money to pay for Starter League (Starter League). We came up with the other half and I was in.

The Starter League was the best thing to ever happen to me. 12 weeks later I can build basic websites and web applications and am not stopping. I was able to meet countless driven, ambitious people both in the class and in 1871.

I have also founded a company, Edopterthat is entered into a startup competition. Imagine, an entirely new path and direction in six months. Try it!
