Are you ready for email marketing? Are you sure???

You have no idea what you're doing....and that's ok. Over my last few months here at ActiveCampaign I've come to the realization that although people understand the value of email marketing, they really don't know where to begin.

The fact of the matter is that there are some very crucial elements to seeing and ROI on email marketing that have to be hit on first and foremost. So, let's discuss entry level requirements for email marketing shall we?

Number one have some sort of in the marketing practices in place. If you haven't explored SEO, or content strategies you might not be prepared to build a list. And my previous post you may remember that the quality of your list is of the upmost importance. If you don't have these minimum requirements in place to find yourself in a position where you'll be paying for email marketing software on not having the list to back up the cost.

Number two, make sure that you have a basic content strategy for emails. If there isn't some sort of goal for the types of emails that you're sending out then you are up a creek without a paddle. Make an early determination whether or not you are going to provide content to be in your blog whether your email marketing content will be separate from your blog but still be informative, or will your email marketing me a copy writing focused and centric platform to up sell and cross sell both perspective and current customers.

This post is shorter than most, but the reality is that these are the absolute minimum requirements to venture into you know marketing. Email marketing can be a very lucrative form of reaching your customers, and continuing to develop that relationship however if you don't have the customers to reach out to that email marketing serves no purpose.

In my next few posts I'll be discussing the different types of emails that you could be sending to your list, as well as how to ensure that your list is of the highest quality.

I hope this helps those of you out there who are currently debating how you would like to approach your content strategies. Focus on starting from within, and then build up.

Be well,

Jay
