Today, Revenue Conduit is a successful eCommerce marketing platform that helps small online retailers grow their businesses. However, for Dan Kurt, co-founder and president, his entrepreneurial journey didn’t begin with a giant pile of angel or VC money. Instead, with exactly $1,400 of cash and a whole lot of bootstrapping, Dan and his co-founder, Parag, built a profitable company. Using his own eCommerce pain points as a foundation for product/market fit, his team achieved success through frugality, flexibility, and leveraging a remote workforce.

A few interesting takeaways from my conversation with Dan:

  • A remote team can be an excellent and cost-effective option. But to make it work, you need to keep up with the pulse across all teams and activity. Make time to check in and keep everyone on the same page and engaged every day.

  • Your company is never too young to focus on Customer Success. Focusing on the customer and reducing churn should always be a priority.

  • It’s okay to go where the market is. Take advantage of inertia, experiment where you can and collect as much data as possible.
