Bringing Free Load Tracking to More Brokers: FourKites Releases CarrierLink for iPhone

FourKites, the leader in real-time supply chain visibility and logistics solutions, is letting freight brokers track with their new app, CarrierLink, for FREE. CarrierLink has just been released for iPhone in the iTunes App Store and is also available for Android in the Google Play store.

Why is load tracking important?

Giant manufacturing companies ship hundreds of thousands of truckloads of freight a year, and load tracking gives these companies, their customers, and the freight brokers acting as intermediaries the ability to see where their freight is, where it’s going, and what time it will arrive.

Having visibility over the entire supply chain prevents a long list of problems and costs that many shippers and brokers have become accustomed to dealing with.

Some freight brokers employ entire teams of people whose job is to call truck drivers to check their status and get an ETA. These teams, and the costs associated, can be entirely reallocated to invest back into the business. Load tracking also prevents drivers from being distracted by talking on their cell phone to take check calls.

Real-time tracking information enables a broker to better service their customers and reduce costs in many ways. For example, FourKites will let a broker know when an an unloading crew needs to meet the truck so drivers aren’t waiting at the dock upon arrival, or crews aren’t waiting around for a driver who is stuck in traffic. Proactively adjusting personnel at loading and unloading docks can save large companies hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

FourKites predictive analytics and OnTime Performance reports aggregate and analyze all the tracking data to help brokers determine which carriers best match their needs. Customer service teams will experience fewer disruptions, staff will know when and where to be, and all parties will know exactly what’s on the road and where it is at all times in order to best utilize supplies.

If you’re a freight broker paying anything at all to track a driver’s cell phone, you’re paying too much. Brokers can use CarrierLink to track up to 2,500 truckloads per month for free. For brokers paying $1 to $5 a load for tracking, Carrierlink can save them thousands of dollars a year.

With a simple invite process, CarrierLink helps brokers, owner-operators, and shipping companies sync up in real time. Geo-fencing and automatic alerts with load status updates, traffic, and weather conditions let brokers know critical updates, like if a delivery will be late, or when it’s within five miles of a delivery point.
