Chicago is a city that is known for many things, something you’d expect from the third largest city in the United States. Whether it’s the foodie contingent rejoicing over the latest world-famous chef’s new restaurant in a trendy neighborhood, architectural enthusiasts fawning over the prominent buildings and varying styles, or perhaps it’s just “Da Bears”, Chicago means a lot of things to a lot of people.

One proud part of Chicago culture is a dedication to the humanities, and Chicago’s outstanding museums are gaining more and more recognition, led by one of our partners, the Art Institute of Chicago. Most recently the AIC was ranked number one in the world by TripAdvisor as part of their Traveler’s Choice awards for museums.

Iternational Recognition and Prestige

The list, released by TripAdvisor, ranks 25 of the world’s top museums using an algorithm that calculates ranking based on reader reviews on TripAdvisor’s website over a 12-month period. Thanks to a high quantity of “Excellent” and “Very good” ratings over the past year, The Art Institute ended up at the top of the list, ranking ahead of other famous and iconic museums including the Louvre in Paris and The Met in New York, just to name a few.

If you’ve visited the AIC (and if you haven’t, do so ASAP), you may not be so surprised to hear this news. After all, the AIC is famous for its impressive collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and American paintings, and a trip to the AIC could include viewing the work of famous artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-August Renoir or Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. If those names aren’t ringing any particular bells, you may have heard of works such as Mary Cassatt’s “The Child’s Bath”, Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” and Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks”. All of these works and many, many more can be seen at the AIC, and that’s one reason we consider ourselves so fortunate to have worked with such an organization.

The AIC and Devbridge Connection

Our relationship with AIC began in 2013, when we created a mobile app that acted as a digital membership card for members of the Art Institute. Users could download the app from the iTunes app store, input their information, and then enjoy the museum without having to carry a physical membership card with the built-in barcode that could be scanned at entrances to the museum and special exhibitions.

We’ve been lucky enough to maintain this relationship, and now we’re helping the AIC expand their membership by providing an online portal for individuals to purchase, renew, or upgrade their memberships. In addition, donations can be made through our new online portal, and memberships can be purchased as a gift for another individual directly. Members can also log in and manage their membership, and offers a way for the AIC to engage their members outside of the spectacular and world-renowned art exhibits that the AIC has to offer. It’s a combination of a Responsive Web Design and ecommerce project for a leading organization.

Our Commitment to World-Class Work

Our ongoing relationship with a world-class institution such as the AIC illustrates just how our commitments to transparency and trust translate in to outstanding relationships and collaborative products that are of the highest quality. Just like the AIC, we strive to be the best, and AIC has achieved that in the mind of museum-goers, as made evident by their recent recognition. The AIC is also one of our many outstanding local partners, and maybe someday we can make a claim to a spot among the things that make Chicago famous. The AIC, great food and drink, Da Bears, and Devbridge? Doesn’t sound too bad to us.
