Creating a Student Venture Fund

I recently concluded my Innovations for Engineers and Business Innovation classes at UIC and IIT. Thirty five (35) students presented their business ideas. Some of them were very exciting, and students were interested in pursuing their projects. After going through about 200 project presentations over five years, I believe there must be ways to support these students to pursue their passions, and launch new businesses in Chicagoland instead of going away for jobs.

I am interested in creating a Student Venture Fund (SVF) to support education in innovation, and innovative entrepreneurship for creating new and exciting businesses in Chicago. I would love to hear some ideas about creating a Student Venture Fund ($1 – $10M), and interest from financially qualified individuals who would be interested in participating in the fund.
