Threadless, the Chicago-based T-shirt maker once called “the most innovative small company in America,” is laying off staff, Crain's technology blogger John Pletz reports.

In a post on the company's blog late yesterday, Threadless founder Jake Nickell wrote: “I just made one of the most difficult decisions in the 13 years since Threadless began. As a result of this decision, I had to let many of my friends and colleagues know that they no longer have a place here working at Threadless."

Crain's has more details on the layoff announcement and background on Threadless's recent track record of revenue growth, management changes and design deals with the likes of Gap and Dell.

Go to John's blog for the complete report. We'll update as new details emerge.
