Edopter Manifesto

A startup is the most human-centric business on the planet.

In the last eight months I have become infatuated with startups and new technology. I am just amazed. Edopter came out of a desire I had to connect and help startups grow. If you think about it, the only business in the world that attacks a problem with only the end consumer in mind is a startup. A startup is the most human-centric business on the planet.

So why then is it so hard for them to break out? While I was in the Starter League my friend had built a tool in Ruby on Rails that allowed you to share online learning resources with your friends. It was great. I used it often and he asked why. That is when the idea for Edopter hit me.

See unfortunately, he has shut it down to get "a real job". But this is sad and is the fate of many ideas. So if there are people like myself who are passionate about growth and innovation and new ideas and at the same time there are companies looking to deliver solutions that are inherently customer-centric that optimize for customer happiness then these two people should probably meet.

So the vision is two-fold. One, to reward and enable those passionate about innovation and new products coming out. Two, we aim to help those growing companies looking to make a change in the world to meet with people who can share their vision and get as excited about the product as they do. When this happens, these small groups of passionate users can help a growing company get through the early iterations of a product and find out what does and does not work.

Once those core users love both the vision and the actual product then the company has license to scale to reach more and more people. At that point, if a small group can love them then a larger group is feasible.

Now as a company begins to scale this does not mean they begin to interact with their users less. By doing this, they have become a typical corporation from which most of my frustration and vision are aiming to correct.
