CHICAGO, IL— Eight women founders, based at 1871, today helped Mayor Rahm Emanuel kick off the city's "Women Who Launch" monthly luncheon series at City Hall.
They included Coco Meers, founder of Pretty Quick; Sharon Schneider, founder of of MoxieJean; Lotika Pai, founder of of Q-It; Elisa All, founder of 30-Second Mom; Liz Salcedo, founder of Everpurse; Yafit Becher, founder and CEO of OneBigBow; Erica Bethe Levin, co-founder of Cheeky Chicago; and Marietta Santori, founder and CEO of Let's Play Please.
The women founders' series will bring together women from Chicago’s tech start-up community and female City officials, over lunch, as part of the Mayor's initiative to create opportunities for the city's tech industry.

It turns out, that 1871 has an unusually high number of women founders (28%) compared with the percentage of tech startups founded by women nationwide (5%).
