There’s still a few more weeks of summer left, which means it’s time for a break. Whether you’re taking the day off for a mini trip around the city or an out-of-town vacation, there’s an app for that. These five apps will make your trip a breeze.
Be your own tour guide and download this app. If you enjoy exploring on your own, Field Trip is a perfect addition to your urban travels. With this guide app you can explore everything from weird history to delicious restaurants. Open this pocket map to explore a world full of interesting finds with articles from Thrillist, Zagat and many more.
Drink Owl
You’re ready for a night out on the town, but where do you go? If you’re strapped for cash and looking for a deal, try Drink Owl. This resourceful app will lead you to deals galore. Update your location and Drink Owl will show you the drink specials closest to you. If you’re picky when it comes to drinks, you can even narrow your results to liquor, mixed drink, beer and/or wine specials.
SitORSquat
As most Chicagoans know, finding a clean public restroom can be a painful task. Many have felt the sting of disappointment after approaching a business with a full bladder only to read the “No public restroom” sign on the door. Your worries are over with this practical potty app. Charmin’s (as in the TP brand) SitORSquat app shows all of the places you can pee in the city for free. While finding the nearest bathroom may be a priority, SitORSquat also ranks bathrooms as “sit” (good) or “squat” (bad). And if that isn’t good enough for you, the app also displays photos of bathrooms and comments from past users. A bit tongue-in-cheek, sure, but when you got to go, you got to go!
