FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO, January 10, 2012Found in Town, a Chicago-based startup, today announced the launch of its free online lost and found recovery service that helps reunite misplaced items such as keys, mobile phones and wallets, with their rightful owners.

Users who register online at found-in-town.com will receive a free key chain and five stickers that can be affixed to virtually any personal belonging that could go misplaced including cell phones, gadgets, cameras, laptops, iPads, coats and more. Each keychain and sticker bears the user’s unique FiT serial number and FiT web address.

The company’s product recovery service makes it easy for people to return lost items. Finders can anonymously report found items at found-in-town.com by entering the unique serial number that is displayed on the lost item. The FiT system immediately sends an email to the owner of the lost item with its whereabouts as reported, so he or she can recover the item. (Example – You left your iPhone at the Drake Hotel Bar; I found it, and gave it to Jim, the bartender.

“120,000 cell phones are lost annually in Chicago taxi cabs alone. Imagine how many keys, wallets and jackets are lost,” said Zach Haller, CEO and founder of Found in Town. “Everyone loses things. People want to return lost items, but they often don't know how. We make it easy and hassle-free to be a good Samaritan.”

Sponsored by local businesses, each key chain bears the logo of a participating restaurant, bar or nightclub of the user’s choice on one side, and the FiT serial number and URL on the other side. When registering online, users select a bar/restaurant affiliation. The Closet, Minibar, Halsted’s Bar + Grill and DS Tequila are the first four Chicago establishments to partner with FiT.

Community businesses enjoy the spoils of keychain advertising and also have the option of emailing registered FiT users to invite them to participate in exclusive deals, discounts and incentives on site, creating a unique digital loyalty program. For a limited time, Found in Town will provide free keychain advertising to all local merchants interested in becoming a FiT partner.
