In September, Uber launched it's black car service in Chicago, bringing a convenient, efficient, and classy transportation option to all Chicagoans. This story was told by BIC member Ryan Graves in this blog post. Since then, we've helped thousands of Chicagoans summon their own private driver on-demand with the touch of a button. However, while Uber's black car service is amazing, it is priced at a premium to taxis. We started to wonder if we could apply the same efficiency of request and seamlessness of payment that the Uber app delivers, at a lower price point--specifically, to taxis. 

This blog post from our 4/18 launch of TAXI describes a bit more of the rationale and story behind the launch of TAXI. Since then, we've done thousands of TAXI rides and helped hundreds of Chicago cab drivers earn extra income. FREE TAXI Week is a bold effort to broadly share the awesomeness that is the TAXI experience on Uber--giving all Chicagoans, at any price point, a great reason to love their transportation!
