MyHomeEQ is a start-up company that has developed and launched a web-based building energy tool, specifically designed to transform the market for single family residential energy efficiency in the Chicago metropolitan region. Collectively, this team brings decades of experience in home energy retrofits, market-based development, real estate data analysis and modeling, and web-based business design, launch and operations.
About the Tool
MyHomeEQ is an existing Online Building Energy Tool in the Chicago market for single family homeowners. It accelerates energy retrofit activity in the single family market by simplifying transactions for homeowners, reducing customer acquisition costs for contractors, and making the value of energy retrofits transparent to the real estate market. MyHomeEQ accomplishes this goal by quickly providing a home energy score, accurate and actionable recommendations, direct links to contractors and financial resources, a method to demonstrate retrofit results and a reporting approach that is pre-wired for integration to the real estate market.
MyHomeEQ calculates and provides a home's energy score or MPG-like rating for buildings, based on actual usage and building structure data, communicating how home energy use and costs compare with similar, nearby homes and providing a reliable score that can be measured, trusted, and reflected in real estate market value. MyHomeEQ accelerates energy retrofit activity by providing customized recommendations and connecting homeowners with qualified contractors, the utilities’ energy efficiency programs and other financial resources. In this way, MyHomeEQ drives the demand for energy efficiency programs offered to single family homeowners by utilities.
Accountability
The MyHomeEQ Web Developer will be a member of a two person development team that is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of MyHomeEQ.com. The MyHomeEQ developer will report directly to the MyHomeEQ product manager and will have significant input into the future definition and direction of the tool.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implementation of new capabilities and functionality into the MyHomeEQ website
- Partner with our energy experts to fine-tune our energy saving algorithms
- Support and maintenance of the MyHomeEQ website
- Manage and coordinate the creation and support of large data imports
- Be a significant contributor in product direction and design meetings
- Demonstrate the website to key stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information systems, computer engineering or related field
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to independently leverage critical thinking skills to address real-world customer issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
- Ability to prioritize and multitask on a wide range of competing demands
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
Preferred:
- Experience with energy modeling or energy usage reporting software
- Experience working with energy or utility companies
