Mirrorgram is a fun photo app that opens up entirely new worlds through symmetry. Featured twice by Apple, Mirrorgram has seen over 250,000 users in just over three weeks (as of 11/4/2012) and counts celebrities like Sophia Bush, Bon Iver, and Far East Movement among it's obsessed and rapidly growing user base.

The Glitch Mob's Justin Boreta reached out to StageBloc, a Chicago tech startup based out of 1871, because he's obsessed with symmetry. “Iʼve been interested in photo manipulation for a long time,” said Boreta. “I knew there were millions of others who would love Mirrorgram just like me."

Mirrorgram works by splitting an image in half on the vertical, horizontal or diagonal axis, and then reflecting it upon itself. Images can be selected from the camera roll or taken and manipulated in real time, in-camera. The resulting mirrored image, or Mirrorgram, can be saved into the camera roll directly or shared via social networks like Twitter, Facebook, StageBloc, and Instagram, where mirrored photos have quickly become an aesthetic trend.

Building Mirrorgram gave us at StageBloc the opportunity to build something fun. It also provided a perfect opportunity for us to build out and test our Connect with StageBloc SDK, which allows any developer to quickly add StageBloc integration to their apps. In addition to sharing photos, apps can share other content like audio and text. Combined with our API, our SDK provides a lot of opportunities for developers to make fun and exciting apps that leverage StageBloc.

Mirrorgram is fun. And that is what makes it so amazing.
