In the next few weeks Chicago-based Encyclopaedia Britannica will launch a new app that will make the entire encyclopedia available to iPad users in a sharp and elegant format we think they’ll love. Yesterday we were delighted to learn that Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal agrees.

“I've been testing this new iPad app, and I like it,” he wrote in a review that appeared on the front page of the Personal Journal section

“Perhaps the coolest feature is the link map, triggered from an icon at the top of each article page,” he went on to say. “This generates a spider web of icons representing other articles related to the one you were reading.”

By the way, in due course the app will also be available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android.
