Seeking Person Passionate About Recycling

Illinois Partners is involved in a compelling cleantech startup opportunity with a company that has developed a novel technology for recycling plastics. For this effort we are seeking assistance with market research and technology evaluation from people who are passionate about recycling and who want to contribute to the development of a technology that can help reduce the stockpiles of plastic waste. Another compelling aspect of the technology is the ability to use organic waste (such as coffee grounds, cardboard and rice husk ash) as an additive for plastics thereby reducing the carbon footprint of plastic products.

The effort will include characterizing the sources, amounts and locations of plastic waste. This person will need to help characterize the supply chain for plastic waste (where does it come from, where does it go, what is it worth, etc.).

The person to help has to be excited and passionate about environmental issues and has to want to get their hands dirty in the planning and development of a pre-revenue startup. For this individual it will be a great learning opportunity. Initially this will be an unpaid internship (although it could be part of academic coursework), but the stage will be set for ongoing consulting, advisory or ground-floor employment opportunities. The ideal person is a graduate student steeped in business concepts, but anyone sufficiently passionate who is a quick learner will be considered.
