I have Dropbox. You proabably do too. Super useful for sharing and synching photos and documents. But I collect a lot of audio in my Dropbox and wanted an easier way to listen to those podcast episodes and random mp3s. So I built Streamboxr.com to play audio files stored on Dropbox.com. Simple idea. Streamboxr does one thing and I think it does it well.

And it is free. Like beer. No fees, no upgrades, no limits  - just create an account, enable Streamboxr to have Dropbox access and you can play your audio on any device. It is responsive so it looks and works well on phones and tablets.

For your privacy, application permissions are limited to the Dropbox/apps/streamboxr directory created in your dropbox. The app can't view any of your other files - you have to drag and drop your audio files into the Streamboxr directory to play. All privacy concerns eliminated.

Upcoming features include the following:

  • playlist creation and sharing
  • convert your audio into a shoutcast/icecast streaming radio station on auto-dj
  • option to allow app permission to crawl your dropbox storage for audio files to add automagically

So if you don't have Dropbox then click here to get signed up (obligatory affiliate link) and then use Streamboxr.com to play audio from Dropbox on any device. For free. You're welcome!

You can follow @streamboxr on twitter for product updates and news. (love that new twitter handle smell)

And please reach out with any ideas or suggestions to make it better.
