Pumped!

I spent the end of last week including the entire weekend in San Antonio supporting a client at a diversity conference.  I got back late Sunday night and saw a calendar request to discuss org structure.  For a company that has grown as quickly as we have over the past few years, these are fairly common and needed (RECSOLU actually conducts quarterly talent reviews but that’s a post for another day).

Everyone knows that I’m always energetic and even-tempered, but on Monday morning I was pretty tired and really needed a day off.  After an important meeting with a prospective client in a new arena, I sat down with Dan and Jeff to see what changes they planned to make.  It wasn’t about the product team, marketing, success, or even tech… It was about me.

One of the reasons Dan and I became entrepreneurs was so we didn’t have to deal with internal politics and power struggles that can plague large organizations.  When we started RECSOLU, neither of us had titles.  Dan’s dad would always tell us stories about when he held meetings, “everyone knew who was in charge” so who cares about a title?  A couple of years ago when Jeff joined, he came up with the idea that both Dan and I would receive President titles, one focused on current customers and the other concentrating on new business.  With RECSOLU growing rapidly, neither of us were interested in the CEO title as we wanted to keep all options open when attracting talent.

I am excited… make that PUMPED, to say that I will be taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer at RECSOLU.  While the entire senior management team will still make key decisions, it allows me to spend more time focusing on building the strategy that will allow RECSOLU to continue to thrive and grow.  With some of the largest social networking and enterprise software companies in the world taking notice, I will be tasked to ensure that RECSOLU is setting and creating trends, not missing them.

None of this would be possible without the stellar personal growth of many of my colleagues.  We have the best people in the business overseeing technology (web and mobile), customer success, product development and design.

To our many clients, I will still be accessible and returning emails back within minutes at 3am.  I’ll also continue to be on many of the calls discussing large-scale builds for clients adding new features.  I got into this business to provide solutions to pain points in recruiting that were not being addressed.  Without our clients’ needs, we wouldn’t have a business at all.

I’m excited to get to work this week.  Can’t wait to sit in my office overlooking the lake, use my gold pen to sign important papers, go to the country club after work and talk about my fat new raise!  Oh what’s that??  I’m still sitting in my cube with no new perks??  I’m cool with that too!
