Hello founders!
I'm writing to let you know that this month we're trying a new experiment for our monthly office hours. As always, we'll be holding free office hours to give technical advice to non- or less- technical startup founders. In addition, we're partnering with two recent Booth MBAs, Gale Bowman and Chiara Picconitti, to offer business office hours as well.
One of the things we've found is that many people we see would benefit from getting some business advice as well as technical advice. In addition, we know there are many programmers who are building projects who would benefit from business advice. Corey and I often find ourselves in this very boat.
So, this month we will be offering the following on our Technical Advocates Menu:
Three (3) "Combination" office hours. Think of this as the Startup Lunch Special:
Free 45 minute sessions where startup founders get access to both technical and business advice. This "best of both worlds" session is run by two long-time technical experts and one startup junkie well versed in the business stuff.
Four (4) Technical Advocates office hours. This is the Technical Advocates Regular:
Free 45-minute sessions where two long-time software developers offer technical advice on any challenges or questions non- or less- technical startup founders are having with your business.
Four (4) "Business Advocates" office hours. Startup advice for Programmer-Entrepreneurs!
Free 45 minute sessions where two business-minded startup aficionados meet with non- or less- business-minded founders to advise on any current marketing or business challenges the startup faces.
This is an experiment so we're eager to see how it works and what feedback we receive. We're also excited to welcome Gale Bowman and Chiara Piccionit to work with us.
Logistics: Office Hours will be held on Thursday, August 30th at the Excelerate Labs offices at 1871. Signup is first-come first-served and the signup sheet will be posted to the @techadvocates Twitter feed on Monday, August 27th at 2PM.

About Gale
Gale Bowman has worked at numerous startups, taking note of what works and doesn't work along the way. She specializes in early stage ventures and has experience in web strategy and analytics, customer research and acquisition, and business development. Gale has an MBA from Chicago Booth.
About Chiara
Chiara Piccinotti is currently a director of strategy at Chicago-based start-up, InContext Solutions, where she recently helped close their first funding round. She learned many valuable lessons on what mistakes not to make while working on her own education start-up between 2009 and 2011. She specializes in product management, user experience design, crafting investor decks, and figuring out how to create a sustainable revenue model. Chiara has an MBA from Chicago Booth.
