A team of five students from Tribeca Flashpoint Academy (TFA) won the honor of Best New PSA from BestNewAd.com this month. This is the school’s third win in four years.

“Our judging panel felt this ad stood above the rest because of its high production value, creativity, and relevance across key demographics,” explained the client, Gift of Hope, an organ and tissue donor network. You can see the winning spot by clicking here.

Second-year film students Doug Barrick, John Lamberger, Jeff Wisnewski, Christian Seangelis and Zach Scott created the spot as part of a class called Producing for the Corporate Client. They, along with the rest of their classmates, spent most of the semester working on their PSA.

“I like the competition aspect of it,” says Peter Hawley, who chairs the Film and Broadcast department at TFA. “The fact that we’ve won three of the last four, I couldn’t be happier.”

TFA is a full-time digital media arts college in Chicago. The school offers associate-degree programs that prepare graduates for work in industries from advertising to television to gaming.

The Best New Ad competition comes from a collaboration between business and education communities. College students from across the country enter to prove their skills in the video, audio and print production realms. Winners are chosen by the company sponsor and awarded a $500 prize, shared among the team members.
