Why the NBA, NFL, and Harvard loves this startup

It should come as no surprise that athletes regularly get injured, just as it is no surprise that us regular folk also get injured.  Granted we don’t tear our ACL in front of 35 cameras and 40,000 devoted fans, but it still sucks and is equally painful.  Teddy Hodges falls into that category, being a regular guy with relatively fragile knees.

Teddy has had about nine surgeries, including a biological knee replacement.  And out of all that time in the hospital, in recovery, at home; there is one common link, he had to wear a clunky brace.  The brace was heavy, clunky, and would rub against his leg.  Teddy figured that he could solve this problem, and upgrade this old technology.

What Teddy did was build Braceunder, a truly revolutionary product.  Think of Braceunder as the coolest pair of yoga pants you have ever seen.  You put the pants on, and you’re given straps that can apply pressure to exactly where you need the pressure.  You can wrap your knee or hamstring exactly how you want.  This means that the brace is fully modular and can be worn during rehab or even when athletes train.

So you’re probably looking at the brace on your leg (suggesting you’re injured) and thinking ‘I want this’.  Well I have bad news, Teddy has only produced 75 working prototypes.  And all of those prototypes are being tested by NFL Players, NBA Players, The Cleveland Clinic, and Harvard.  The good news is that Teddy is going to go into production soon.
