The Women Driving Chicago's Digital Renaissance: Blagica (Stefanovski) Bottigliero

In this monthly series, Built In Chicago will highlight some of the most important players in our digital ecosystem: the women. From entrepreneurs to technologists, investors to academic leaders, and corporate innovators to developers, women play important and diverse roles in dozens of local organizations. Every month, we'll introduce you to five women worth knowing. Through these exclusive interviews, get to know these women through their likes, experiences, and maybe even their secrets. Here's one of them.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am the Director of Global Social Media for Motorola Mobility

HOW DID YOU BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?
Two major life changes: realizing how much I accomplished on my own led to Gals' Guide. Purchasing my first home led to the creation of CondoPerks.

BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?
Keep your head down and focus on your idea, doing as best as you can to limit the distractions.

YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE ON A DAILY BASIS?
Staying on top of industry changes, processing them and understanding if they apply to our business at Motorola Mobility—and being comfortable with saying 'no'.

YOUR SECRET WEAPON?
I've been in digital/social media since 1996. I've done everything from building basic websites to running multi million dollar ad campaigns online. I know how it all works together.

YOUR FAVORITE INDULGENCE?
Taking my daughter to my favorite grassy spot overlooking Lake Michigan, sharing a box of Vosges Haut Chocolat and telling her stories of my first days in Chicago.

YOUR ADVICE FOR YOUNGER WOMEN?
Immerse yourself in the ACTUAL technology. Understand HOW it works. Don't get caught up in 'startup hype'. Learn because you want to learn.
