I manage the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago. We create an environment that fosters innovation and new venture creation.

WHY DID YOU BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?
Early on, I was an ‘intrapreneur’ at a Fortune 100 corporation. That built my confidence and industry knowledge to later lead an entrepreneurial venture.

YOUR SECRET WEAPON?
The great people who are part of my team.

THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?
Understand your strengths and weaknesses. Hire smarter people who complement your skills. Always be willing to listen and learn.

YOUR ADVICE FOR YOUNGER WOMEN?
Find good mentors and build your network by meeting people face-to-face–don’t over-rely on electronic communications.

FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATION?
My home in Scottsdale Arizona where I can hike, golf, de-stress, and appreciate nature’s beauty.
