It was around two years ago to the day, when I first met Rick Desai. After an introduction to Rick’s firm Dashfire from Sandbox Industries, Rick and I quickly coordinated a sit down at a coffee shop up in Lincoln Park.

Startup tips for Chicago Businesses

Forming a startup in Chicago is pretty much the same thing as it’s going to when forming a startup anywhere else in the U.S. There are going to be some regulatory differences, cultural support might be a bit less robust than it would be in, say, Palo Alto, California, and possibly you’ll be aiming for different niche markets that more closely fit the kind of needs and possibilities in the Chicago Metro area or possibly the state of Illinois.

The Case for Chicago High-Tech Heaven

We all know that Silicon Valley is synonymous with our country’s tech scene. Google, Facebook, Salesforce.com - so many of the major players call that region home, as do relative newcomers such as Airbnb and Uber . With a great culture of innovation, a large talent pool, and the attention of VCs, starting a tech company there seems like an obvious choice.

It's not a 'location', it's a different mindset. And it's better for business.

Do you know a business development "track star?"

We're searching Chicago for an experienced, driven business development / inside sales team member. To keep it light, we  spun our job posting as if we're a track team, looking for a new star to link the marketing and sales legs of a relay team.

Do witty job posts work? Does it show that we're a seriously laid back startup?

What do you think?

Here's a sneak peak at the post (the full post is also on Built In Chicago here) :

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! You're joking right!

The skeptic's burst into a hearty laugh could be heard from light years away as it echoed deep within the chambers of his hardened heart... The epic surge of uncontrollable doubt lifted his spirits as he sought to continue his rightful Underestimation... of the Innovator that stood before him...

Poor kid! ... he thought.
