What features would you like to see on Built In Chicago?

What features can we add to the site to help you better connect with other startups and local entrepreneurs? We're open to any suggestions you have for improving Built In Chicago.

Some standard feature to enable members to convey, how often are they willing to help others and in which area. It could be implemented by letting people add this info in their profile, and allowing members to search each other by that info. e.g.

- available to beta test

- want to make investment

- want to code for equity

- help refine business model, revenue model, marketing & launch strategy

- general discussion/feedback etc

- looking for advice on social marketing

- looking for funding

One purpose of going to meetups and joining a community is that we want to share our knowledge & experiences to help each other. To make the experience more productive for everyone, it is important to introduce the right people to each other. So some feature to address that would be awesome.

Thanks a lot for feedback Aman, we've been discussing something similar to this internally and it's likely a feature we'll add.

Awesome, looking forward to this Adam.

what would be cool would be a real-time or forum-like chat/page where we can bounce ideas for features or products.

why?  I myself am a closet-entrepreneur, where basically, I have ideas, but the discouragement of not having the proper resources/knowledge/experience to dive into a project are not easily accessible. this just be a weakness that I need to address myself, but it might help get my feet off the ground if there are others interested in my ideas to connect and maybe get a startup going with BuiltInChicago to thank.

I think what you guys are doing is awesome, but i think some general feature where Interactions among the members would be every awesom-er.

Live chat/forum is a really interesting idea, we'll definitely consider this. For right now, you could put up your ideas in the Q&A section for feedback.

Ironically, shortly after we migrated to the new look, I didn't get the same vibe as I did with the old site.  Something about the old look felt more connected to "chicago" I guess.   Some images of the city perhaps - something a little more connected to our roots..?  Just a thought.

A better blog platform. This is a really not so great. You cannot embed videos. And I now can't figure out how to take a unpublished post and get it published (e.g., http://www.builtinchicago.org/blog/publish-perish-disruptive-innovation-...) I hit "save" and it saves it to the archive. Where's a nice, straightforward "publish" button?

Okay, it just published - in fact it was featured... Thank you! But this platform still seems buggy. I write a lot, so I may be fussier than most. But there better solutions out there and something with the name "Built in Chicago" should be best in breed. I'd be happy to sit with you at the 1871 Intelligentsia sometime and go over tweaks...
