Overview

kCura, LLC. (Chicago, IL) seeks an Advanced Performance Engineer to drive customer confidence by assuring the quality of kCura’s current and future software products and to contribute to a motivating environment that empowers teams and individuals to engineer QA efficiencies in practice, through process, and with effective tools/techniques.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include: identifying and communicating baseline expectations for the performance of kCura’s core products; driving software performance requirements through exploration of projected configurations and environments of kCura’s core products; ensuring the availability and efficiency of the environments that product development uses to develop and test kCura’s core products; working on processes and practices related to performance, load and scalability testing; recommending and implementing scalability and performance requirements by exploring the bounds of our core products; contributing to pre-release feasibility studies to assure our software requirements and technical designs are testable and capable from a performance perspective; performing the execution of baseline performance and load tests per release to assure our core software products have not regressed; creating automated scripts to simulate multi-user, multi-tiered systems running in different environments under various configurations; assisting in the design, documentation, and execution of backend tests for software installations, deployments, licensing, recovery and upgrades; analyzing performance results and recommending optimizations to hardware/software configurations, database design, and environment setup; providing testing assistance to the development teams for the creation and execution of new performance and load tests for newly developed functionality; gaining knowledge from Client Services on client infrastructure setup, performance bottlenecks, that help drive the way we performance test/debug/optimize our core products; and supporting Client Services by offering expertise to customers on domain specific setup and tuning of our products in their environment. Qualifications

Position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Database Administration, Systems Administration, Computer Networks, Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Technical Test Lead, or similar position. 
Qualifying experience must include: designing, implementing and executing performance and load tests for commercial grade systems and applications; supporting and maintaining Software QA or Development environments that host commercial-grade systems and applications; Systems/Database Administration and Quality Assurance disciplines; Windows O/S and SQL Server; troubleshooting hardware and software; communicating test results, codes and observations to team members; and communicating performance results to non-technical audiences.
