We are looking for
A mobile developer looking to jump into startup life by joining Sittercity as a Android Engineer. This role is responsible for designing and building our new mobile experience for parents and sitters, enabling them to finally make child care work! You will collaborate with our product, design and platform engineering teams to create the best experience for child care management for our Android customers.
Solid engineering principles are second nature to you. You believe in clean separation of concerns, ensuring presentation and business logic are composed appropriately. Test driven development is in your blood, ensuring that your code is properly tested at the appropriate coverage.
You understand the customer and engage with our users to ensure the product is the best in class. Releasing early and often is part of your DNA. You get a kick out of releasing code to the public regularly to quickly understand the impacts of your work. Continuous feedback from users on features and bugs motivates you to keep improving the product.
You will be responsible for
- Building a completely new parent and sitter experience from the ground up, that delights our Android users.
- Developing the user experience for the Android platform alongside our product and design team.
- Collaborating with the design team to translate prototypes into final product features.
- Defining API protocols with the platform, iOS and web engineering teams to support the features you are building.
- Releasing new versions of our app in the Google Play store.
- Monitoring the stability of the software, prioritizing bug fixes and suggesting optimizations to boost engagement.
You need to have
- Experience developing and maintaining at least one application that has been available in the Google Play store in the last two years.
- At least two years commercial experience developing Android applications.
- A solid understanding of the Android SDK, development tools, User Interface kits and design guidelines.
- A good understanding of HTTP JSON APIs, experience working with OAuth2 authorization protocols.
- Ability to read technical documents and RFCs and able build software to protocol specifications.
- Understanding of how to translate UI designs and guide into working user interfaces.
- Good working knowledge of Git and branching strategies
- Experience working with agile software development processes
- Track record of success in fast-paced organizations, with a bias for action and in driving results
We would like you to have
- Experience with analytics frameworks measuring user engagement.
- Knowledge of how to build continuous delivery pipelines for Android.
- Understanding of how to build and manage product feature switches in a production environment.
- Experience with A/B testing user flows/designs in controlled tests.
