Guaranteed Rate is looking for a high-energy Database Engineer who will be accountable for maintaining and improving an MS SQL infrastructure that backs a suite of applications and microservices. Your work with Guaranteed Rate will be two-fold:

1. Help get a handle on our databases and their dependent reporting & application architectures
   1. Master through implementation: data modeling, management, security and permissions for both user-groups and applications
2. Support new initiatives for Reporting and Analytics, Data Warehousing, and misc demands. 

In short, you are ambitious, discipline, and can help propel Guaranteed Rate into the next phase of our data-driven growth!

A few other things:

• Consolidation, migration, and improvement of a diverse SSRS portfolio

• Build & improve reports, ETL workflows, or ad-hoc analysis using SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS

• Write and maintain data infrastructure documentation

• Work closely with Software Engineers & business stakeholders to ensure data integrity and overall system health 

• Participate in testing process through unit testing and bug fixes

• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues

What you'll bring to the table:

• 2-3 years professional experience on the MS SQL stack 

  • Hands-on experience with SSRS and SSIS. 

• Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving database problems

  • Competency troubleshooting problems in .RDL files and .DTS packages

  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and performance tune SQL queries, stored procedures, functions

  • Ability to identify problems, and effectively communicate solutions to peers and management

• High competency writing T-SQL for both designing and debugging

• Experience in database design, development and data modeling

• Willingness to work flexibly and occasionally odd hours in the event of infrastructure changes, downtime, or upgrades

• Demonstrated problem-solving and quantitative skills, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Bonus if you have mortgage industry and/or other lending or financial business experience. 
  • Double bonus if you've built prior Data Warehouse(s) for a lender or FinTech company.
