As a Product Business Analyst, you will be maintaining and leveraging in-product analytics to influence product and business decision making for both product and marketing to help drive the understanding, growth, and success of our business. You will be part of the Integrated Narrative Solutions & Applications (INSA) product group.

This is an analytical role that involves obtaining data, analyzing data and surfacing insights necessary to respond to requests from stakeholders. The role also requires strong business acumen and proactively generating recommendations that benefit the business. This is a highly tactical role in which you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Engineering, Marketing and Business teams to deliver actionable insights and ensure that our extended team derives value. Your overall success will depend upon your ability to quantify product performance through a variety of KPIs and drive change that is measurable. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a nascent data infrastructure to identify, monitor, and impact key metrics and is passionate about using data to drive decision-making.


Responsibilities:

  • Enable Product Managers and other stakeholders to access and communicate product data and insights in a clear, effective and repeatable manner
  • Improve our understanding of patterns/trends in user behavior and find new product opportunities
  • Build automated dashboards, including impactful and complex data visualizations solutions utilizing Business Intelligence products (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, etc.), and reports to drive awareness and understanding of key metrics and experiment results
  • Take ownership of building cross-platform schemas that enable the product team to track user behavior and collect data on engagement, retention, conversions, and lifetime value
  • Conduct analytics audits to ensure schemas are tagged accurately after product releases
  • Fully understand business metrics, segments of our user base and available data and use data to inform and influence the direction of the product team roadmaps and inform business decisions
  • Partner with product teams to define goals and identify key metrics for existing features and new releases
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to rapidly design experiments and iterate on results
  • Keep a constant eye out for potential improvements in analytics processes, data quality and data sources/tools.

Requirements:


For the Business Analyst position, we are looking for an individual with strong analytic skills, including the ability to interpret customer needs into application and operational requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills are also crucial. This is an entry-level role and the ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate or someone with one to two years of relevant experience.

  • Undergraduate degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or similar field
  • Outstanding analytical skills, including translating unstructured strategic questions into structured knowledge and exploring relationships between multiple pieces of data
  • Ability to synthesize research results to support strategies and recommendations
  • Excellent quantitative skills, significant experience with research design and data analysis in either academic coursework or work experience
  • Self-starter who understands how to effectively deal with ambiguity and with changing priorities; bias for action
  • Fast learner; able to learn new software solutions, business processes, and design techniques quickly and efficiently
  • Must be detail-oriented (but still able to see the big picture), deadline driven, results-oriented and be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to effectively prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in data analysis, mapping,modeling and disparate information systems while facilitating comparative analysis
  • Strong relational database skills
  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills 
  • Experience analyzing very large datasets with SQL, R, SAS or other statistical package and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, etc.)
  • Segmentation experience
  • Advanced expertise in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, etc).
  • Comfort with basic HTML/CSS/JS a plus
  • Experience in marketing analytics a plus

Location

We became a distributed workforce in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19 and will remain distributed moving forward. Our Chicago HQ still remains but we want our team to have flexibility around when and where they work.
