About The Position

The Business Development Representative is a key member of the Raise Merchant Partner team working very closely with the Business Development Manager. The Business Development branch of the Merchant Partner team is responsible for the strategic growth and acceleration of the business through new channel creation, development and partnerships. The role of the Business Development Representative is to inform, educate and acquire new business opportunities and relationships with merchants who have closed loop, prepaid gift card programs. The Business Development Representative will be responsible for outreach and initial relationship building to hand off to the Business Development Manager to finalize the partnership.

The Business Development Representative is also responsible for managing prospects, doing outreach via email and phone, and understanding the key contacts are across national and regional brands. They will report directly to the Sr Director of Merchant Partnerships, and will primarily be responsible for being an industry expert, doing outreach and developing new relationships with national and regional merchant brands to hand off to the Business Development Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Research and development of industry expertise on retailers
  • Outreach via phone and email to retailers to schedule an appointment with the Business Development Manager
  • Manage prospects and ensure data is accurate and up to date
  • Work closely with Risk team to understand current and potential relationships
  • Package & Pitch the existing Merchant Partnership offering to national and regional brands
  • Develop relationships national and regional brands
  • Work with the Sales Operations team to implement a successful partnership launch
  • Develop content and processes with Sales and Marketing to support the sales cycle

Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ Years experience cold calling, setting appointments and being an industry expert
  • Some knowledge of the retail gift card business
  • Thick skin – comfortable with rejection and handling objections
  • College graduate with excellent communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong team player as well as ability to work independently
