Position Description

The Category Merchandiser is responsible for developing online and catalog strategies to grow aligned product category sales and conversion by effectively merchandising products and services on the website and in the general catalog.

The role is focused on  developing and executing consistent long term category growth plans and product content strategies across channels by leveraging new and existing tools to more effectively merchandise products to optimize the customers discovery and selection of product.. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, strategy, optimization and print and online reporting for aligned categories.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing merchandising strategy and implementing online and catalog product presentation, ensuring items are merchandised in the best possible product groupings with the best possible attribute data and initiating the development of any product related content.
  • Maximize product selection by ensuring products are displayed in the correct hierarchy both online and in print.
  • Collaborates with Product Management, Digital Channels, Analytics, Merchandising Operations, Optimization, Marketing Teams to develop grow strategies and drive integration across customer touch points.
  • Research & Gap Analysis of competitor & Related Industry websites and catalogs to assess threats and opportunities.
  • Leverage reporting and analytic tools to monitor specific performance metrics and suggest appropriate modifications to category presentation to improve the customer experience
  • Identify and recommend system enhancement opportunities based on category needs and customer insights and behaviors.
  • Understand and anticipate implications across channels of merchandising actions.  Share practices and learnings.

 


Position Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in Marketing or Business preferred
  • 5-7 years experience in product management, merchandising, marketing or product development
  • Keen understanding of online space
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven judgment with ability to understand implications of customer and business issues
  • Understanding of online analytics (Adobe/Omniture).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Product aptitude
  • Strong systemic thinking and problem solving skills
