Job Summary:

RedShelf is a higher-ed tech startup based in Chicago, IL. Our main priority is to help transition learning materials, such as textbooks, from the current print products into much evolved digital eTextbooks.

Over the past 4 years we have seen over 400% YOY growth and we’re looking to add a talented and passionate Sales Manager focusing on growing RedShelf Central Region. The Central Region Sales Manager will be based in RedShelf's Chicago headquarters and is responsible for generating new business, driving account revenue, and building client relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Generate new bookstore accounts and grow existing accounts both through in-person visits and remote correspondence to expand partnerships and widen RedShelf's digital distribution of college course materials
  • Optimize existing campus bookstore relationships with the goal of providing a focused and personalized experience, while maximizing sales of RedShelf eBooks and exceeding sales targets
  • Communicate consistently and coordinate priorities effectively while assisting the Regional Director of Sales in driving sales growth
  • Travel to regional and national trade shows, and demonstrate an active, professional presence while promoting the benefits of RedShelf's products and services
  • Facilitate product understanding and engagement through consistent contact and updates on new capabilities and opportunities
  • Maintain product expertise across our platform and serve as the ultimate expert on RedShelf products and services
  • Actively prepare and participate in internal sales meetings, including weekly 1:1 meetings with your Director, weekly group sales strategy sessions, and seasonal National Sales Meetings
  • Effectively gather market feedback and industry intelligence, and report your experiences, challenges, and progress to the organization
  • Responsibly manage operational expenses within assigned territory

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of proved success in a sales role generating new business, driving account revenue, and building client relationships
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation communication skills
  • Effectively managed a large amount of accounts and issues efficiently and effectively
  • Self-starter, possesses the ability to succeed independently and as part of a team
  • Hands-on problem solver
  • Able to work in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Detail orientated and ability to appreciate big picture
  • Available some weekends for tradeshows and company events
  • Position based in Chicago but willing require travel through our territory region, including some overnight travel
  • Other duties assigned by manager

Other desirable skills / experience:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the advances in higher educational software, course materials, and digital publishing
  • Background and/or experience in educational technology and/or publishing
  • Comfort and/or experience in a start-up environment
