Everyone needs insurance, but let’s be honest, nobody is excited about it.

At Clearcover, we know people have better ways to spend their money and more exciting things to do with their time, so we’re creating a new kind of insurance company that gives people the insurance they need for a lot less of everything else. In other words, we save people serious time and money by helping them think about insurance less. Pretty cool, right?

We’re keeping most of the details quiet right now, but we’re building something awesome. It doesn’t take much digging to see that insurance is outdated, but we’re creating much more than a fancy app. We’re fundamentally changing the way insurance works. And we need your help.

As our Content and Communications Lead, you’ll be responsible for sharing the Clearcover story with our customers. This job will be fun, but it won’t be easy. You’ll be responsible for helping to build trust and awareness with our audience without all the annoying, in-your-face tactics employed by the big guys. Empathy, transparency, and a healthy distaste for the status quo are essential.

On any given day, you'll be involved in brand management, content strategy, communications/PR… you get the point. You should be part investigative journalist, part author, and part marketer. We’re looking for someone who wants to help tell an important story that can change a massive industry.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Craft and deliver our story through multiple channels and outlets to generate awareness of Clearcover’s mission and value to customers and partners.
  • Help refine our brand strategy and messaging based on customer research and feedback.
  • Figure out what the heck thought leadership actually means, then lead ours. That probably means partnering with executives on speeches and presentations, content, and interview and panel opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and consumer habits to inform communications strategies and tactics.
  • Measure brand awareness, positioning, and communications effectiveness.

Prior Experience & Professional Qualities

  • Energy, integrity and curiosity.
  • 2-5 years of evidenced success leading and executing PR and communications strategy in startup, corporate and/or agency environments. Brand strategy/management skills are a big plus.
  • Serious writing skills, with a passion for clarity, simplicity and candor.
  • Sense of humor is a must. Insurance is boring enough – let’s not make it worse.
  • Creativity combined with good business judgment and attention to detail.
  • A bias for action and willingness to be accountable for your actions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and autonomy.
  • Grit – we’re all going to get knocked down. You need to know how to get back up.
