Narrative Science is seeking a Content Systems Analyst to join our team in Chicago. The Content Systems Analyst will be responsible for building out the narrative content associated with our Integrated Narratives for Business Intelligence (INBI) product using Quill™, our natural-language generation (NLG) platform. You will be part of the Integrated Narrative Solutions & Applications (INSA) product group and report to the INBI Product Manager. The role requires strong business acumen and experience conducting analysis and then creating written reports that clearly communicate insights. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and analytical thinker who is comfortable working with data in a highly technical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the creation of client-ready narrative output based on visualizations, translate output into requirements and configure them into Quill

  • Work closely with the product team and our engineering team to continue developing the capabilities of the product

  • Design and develop custom reporting and content solutions for INBI clients in Quill across industries like ecommerce, CPG, and more

  • Manage the development of custom INBI narratives for clients, including delivering timelines, status updates, and client communications

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on the configuration and deployments of Quill

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 2-3 years of experience in a technical editorial role or as a business analyst; must have created data-driven reports for various audiences

  • Distinctive analytical thinker who can translate complex concepts into structured components

  • Distinctive writer with the ability to synthesize complex ideas and insights into concise, easy to understand language

  • Self-starter who understands how to effectively deal with ambiguity and with changing priorities; bias for action

  • Fast learner; able to learn new software solutions, business processes, and design techniques quickly and efficiently

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented (but still able to see the big picture), deadline driven, results-oriented and be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to effectively prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision.

  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills 

  • Significant experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Javascript or HTML preferred, at least some programming experience or coursework required

  • Experience interfacing with clients and project management skills

Location

We became a distributed workforce in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19 and will remain distributed moving forward. Our Chicago HQ still remains but we want our team to have flexibility around when and where they work.
