What you'll do:
Shiftgig is seeking a Controller at our Corporate Headquarters in Chicago, IL. As Controller you will report directly to the VP of Finance, and have the primary responsibility of managing the Corporate Accounting function. This position will work closely with Finance and other business units.
Coordinate and direct the financial close process including full cycle monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting
Direct internal and external financial reporting and analysis in accordance with GAAP
Supports financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
Maintain and continue to improve upon current internal controls, policies, and infrastructure to scale with the business
Directs and oversees corporate cash management, AP, AR and general accounting functions including payroll
Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes
Coordinates the preparation of schedules requested by external audit team and tax advisors for annual audit, corporate income tax returns and tax provision calculations
Support external financial institution relationships and manage internal controls for banking transactions
Lead the Accounting team in scoping, designing, developing, implementing and integrating systems, processes and procedures to support growth of the business
Provides financial leadership to the accounting staff; recruitment, coaching and development
Ensures a spirit of respect, integrity, passion, teamwork, innovation, communication and impact
What you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred
CPA preferred
GAAP and SOX compliance
Prefer senior level accounting experience with staffing agency or technology startup
Experience with a fast-paced, always-on, frequently ambiguous start-up environment
Experience with NetSuite systems, beneficial
Ability to maintain highly confidential information
A problem solver with strong conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel; Word; PowerPoint)
