The Uptake Corporate Development team focuses on sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing M&A and strategic partnership opportunities. This position offers a great opportunity to drive deals by evaluating business and M&A opportunities, structuring, and full cycle execution. This role will make an immediate and substantial impact to Uptake.

This person should be able to support multiple projects simultaneously, be highly self-motivated, and enjoy solving really hard problems. This is a highly visible role and critical to our success, with the opportunity to grow rapidly and gain senior executive exposure across a variety of industries. 

What You'll Do:
  • Analyze the company’s strategic objectives and identify, recommend and pursue technologies that can meet those investment objectives
  • Perform research on technologies, identify industry trends, outline competitive landscape(s), and research, identify, and recommend companies for strategic partnerships and acquisitions
  • Support acquisitions – including due diligence, deal negotiations and integration
  • Create a variety of financial models, including ROI and target company Profit & Loss
  • Support the executive team on all aspects of deal execution and integration activities (this includes research, analysis, and deal execution activities)
  • Support coordination of cross-functional engineering, design and product teams in the evaluation of technical employees, technology solutions and other product diligence
  • Identify areas for integration of technology infrastructure and other IT systems post-acquisition / partnership
  • Assess the costs, revenue and other benefits for both near- and long-term roadmaps that leverage the acquired company’s solutions
  • Take on special projects on an as-needed basis

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top university and 2-4 years relevant work experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, technology-focused corporate development/strategy, due diligence focused management consulting, or technology-focused investment bank
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability, along with excellent business judgment
  • Experience doing industry research, competitive landscaping/comparisons, value chain analyses, extensive financial modeling, and presentations
  • Experience identifying and exposure to strategic deal negotiation
  • Experience interacting with senior audiences and executives
  • Strong project management skills, including a proven ability to think through all aspects of the process, manage long-term projects, and multi-task
  • Familiarity with concepts and technologies behind Big Data analytics, predictive analytics, and predictive maintenance
  • Driven, self-starter with a passion for excellence and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Superb interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships successfully across teams

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
