Cars.com is seeking an experienced Data Analyst.  The individual will play a key role in ensuring that our data teams continue to be a valued and trusted technology partner within our organization. We are looking for an IT professional with enterprise level business/data analyst experience and a passion for delivering great customer service.

 

Responsibilities Include

  • Function as a liaison between technology teams and internal business units. Understand and elicit data needs using interviews, data analysis, business process descriptions, stories, scenarios, business analysis, and workflow analysis.
  • Create and execute SQL queries to aid in the troubleshooting process of potential data anomalies. This role will aid in the testing and validation of the delivered data products.
  • Function as a subject matter expert on our data, processes, and business methodologies
  • Collaborate with technical experts and business units to determine the best possible data and reporting solutions.

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of database structures and fundamentals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Must have solid verbal and written communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Working experience in Agile/Scrum environment is preferred
  • Passion to proactively seek ways to improve processes
  • Self-confidence to be assertive when taking a position and can constructively resolve problems
  • Creative, resourceful and innovative at tackling complex challenges
  • The ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  •  

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • 2+ years’ experience working within a large data environment  (utilizing technologies such as Oracle or Teradata).
  • 1+ years’ experience working within Big Data (Hadoop, Hive, Hue, NoSQL) environment.
  • Understanding of MDM concepts
  • Previous development experience considered a plus (e.g. Python, Java)
