The Data Engineering team is responsible for researching, standardizing, and transforming a variety of data sets to prepare them for analysis and integration into our products. As a data engineer, you will join the Chicago-based team, working closely and collaboratively with analysts and engineers to identify data needs across products and clients.
We believe you can’t solve big problems without the right data. As a data engineer, you will write software to automate processes associated with data acquisition, manipulation, and integration, coordinating with internal users and external customers to ensure they have the proper tools for success. You will work with other members of our team to develop solutions from ad hoc scripts to fully-realized ETL and data science workflows.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field, or commensurate work experience
- Experience developing successful software solutions to difficult problems
- Expertise in Python or another scripting language
- Experience interacting with APIs
- Experience with SQL databases
- Comfort with Git
- Experience identifying and adapting to imperfect data
- An ability and eagerness to constantly learn and teach others
- Expertise with SQL databases
- Experience with Docker
- Experience writing software tests
- Expertise transforming and standardizing large data sets
- Experience working with media, political, geographic, and/or social networking data
- Familiarity with statistics and modeling
