● Our web application is written in modern Javascript (ES6) and built with React and Flux. 
● Our API services are built with Elixir, Phoenix, and PostgreSQL. 
● We run on Google Cloud using Kubernetes and Docker. 
● We test with Selenium and WebdriverIO running through Mocha and Chai for acceptance tests, Jest for unit tests, and ExUnit for the API.

THE ROLE 
As a Database Engineer you will work with our backend team to advise on the architecture of the data structures in the API, optimize queries, plan out partitions and migrations, and support new functionality in our heavily data-driven learning platform.

The following skills are ideal:

● Expertise in SQL databases, especially Postgres. 
● Expertise with a scripting language, especially functional programming languages like Elixir and Haskell. 
● Expertise in designing optimized database schemas, writing and optimizing queries and procedures, and optimizing database configurations. 
● Superior problem solving and prioritization skills. The ability to consider a solution for right now, a week from now, and a month from now and strike the right balance to deliver value to users.
