Guaranteed Rate is seeking a highly qualified Database Administrator to assist in the support of all enterprise databases for our applications.

The selected DBA must ensure the optimal performance and security of all production databases, advise management of potential risks, and proactively take steps to ensure smooth performance.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of all databases within the company.
2. Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
3. Maintain control of the databases including implementation, tuning, optimization, security and integrity of the environment.
4. Perform advanced database administration activities including transactional replication, installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and may design disaster recovery procedures.
5. Plans and performs database server upgrades and determines standards for server configuration.
6. Troubleshoots performance issues involving query tuning, hardware optimization, and monitoring all SQL instances.
7. Monitors database use and performance to identify bottlenecks.
8. Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.

Knowledge/Skill & Educational Requirements, Special Certifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in MIS or computer related field
2. Solid knowledge of SQL with at least 3+ years experience.
3. 3+ years experience with Database Administration for MS SQLServer (2008R2+).
4. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
5. Ability to troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
6. Strong knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, integrity checks, and configuration.
7. Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQLServer.
8. Knowledge of data security standards
9. Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
10. Good communication and documentation skills.
