Sprout Social is looking for a Director of Content who is an experienced storyteller and has a passion for creative thinking, writing and data-driven marketing. You’ll manage a talented team of content developers to bring Sprout’s story to life, share our expertise, drive brand awareness and generate demand for our product. Not only are you a storyteller, you are experienced with developing great content that attracts real prospects that generate revenue.

You’ll be an integral component of our marketing team where you’ll have a direct impact on everything from product positioning to thought leadership to lead generation. Most importantly, you must thrive on measuring yourself by the success of our product that is used by more than 17,000 brands around the world. Companies like Adobe, Pivotal Labs, Google, Marvel, and Evernote rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships with their customers through social media.

You should be well versed in content marketing best-practices and ready to bring innovative strategies that drive user engagement. You’re curious, a great editor and love social media. You’re not afraid to try new things (and even fail occasionally), with a desire to define the way people view, and use, social media as a communication channel and part of their marketing mix. You’re a team player who is as excited about developing team members as you are about working independently.

  • Develop and execute fresh content strategies that drive awareness, as well as fuel lead-generation and client engagement

  • Develop and manage the marketing team’s editorial calendar and ensure all deliverables are on-time

  • Work collaboratively with Product Marketing, PR/Communications, Sales, Demand Generation and Design to ensure your team achieves individual and shared KPIs

  • Conceptualize and build thought-leadership content including customer success stories, contributed pieces, industry blogs, social media guides, infographics, videos, whitepapers, and more

  • Ensure all external communications and materials align to brand, vision, messaging and product positioning

  • Pursue subject matter experts and executives to create unique industry perspectives and deliver content in the most engaging and consumable manner and formats

  • Continually track and test content performance and engagement to understand impact and inform future content strategy

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, viewpoints and topics to ensure well-rounded and thought-provoking content is developed

Desired Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing or Communications preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 10 years marketing, content or publishing experience, preferably in a B2B capacity and extra bonus points for SaaS experience

  • A genuine love for writing content that drives interest and engagement

  • Strong project management, writing and editorial skills, with experience in utilizing thought leadership to drive awareness and demand

  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail required

  • Proven skill for distilling large amounts of information into most pertinent, consumable elements

  • Proven ability to successfully manage projects that include cross-functional teams

  • Self-starter with a fearless desire to continually innovate and set new standards

  • A relentless editor who possesses creative thinking skills with an eye for detail

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set and manage expectations in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of current inbound marketing tactics and content optimization for search
