Director of People

Built In is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Director of People who first and foremost will take care of our people (a team of 40+). This team member will be the first person on the HR team and will be responsible for laying the foundation of a growing tech company including, but not limited to: benefits administration, compensation reviews, policy development and implementation, orientation, onboarding/off boarding, recruiting, team training and compliance with State and Federal employment laws. This role reports to the Head of Finance and Operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
People Management
- Develop and manage employee onboarding, retention and fun committee programs
- Support and manage entry and mid-level employees and build relationships with the management team to ensure support of their teams/initiatives
- Seek out and establish training programs for all employees
- Develop and manage HR policies and procedures including: employee handbook, travel policies, etc.
- Support and lead the recruitment function including creation and execution of job postings, development of interview questions, process and scheduling.

- Assist employees in timely enrollment into the company’s group benefits plan
- Conduct monthly benefits reconciliation
- Assist with annual reporting and audits including annual plan audit
- Coordinate and track benefits for in-office and remote employees
- Track, monitor and report on employee benefit eligibility under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
HR Administration
- Create and maintain employee files
- Assist with new hire orientations and onboarding
- Process leaves (i.e. FMLA or ADA); identifying eligibility and interpreting laws and company policy
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal policies
- Assist legal and finance team in maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 3-5 years of relevant HR work experience
- Superior attention to detail...especially when handling sensitive HR issues
- Fantastic customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Loose lips sink ships, so being able to keep information confidential is of high importance
- Strong ability to collaborate and work independently, self-starters only
- Knowledge of Human Resources & payroll best practices and federal and state regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs
- The attitude of a constant learner, with an eagerness to dig into details
