Director of Research, Power & Gas
The Group: Morningstar Commodities Research provides independent, fundamental research differentiated by a consistent focus on the competitive dynamics in worldwide commodities markets. This joint effort between Morningstar's Research and Commodities & Energy groups leverages the expertise of Morningstar's 23 energy, utilities, basic materials, and commodities analysts as well as Morningstar's extensive data platform. Morningstar Commodities Research focuses on North American power and natural gas markets as well as oil and refined products. The Role: As an Director of Research, Power & Gas, you will perform fundamental analysis and write research reports concerning developments in North America power and gas markets. This position is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee Morningstar Power & Gas research and production of reports
+ Support commercialization of Morningstar Research’
+ Support research products with research expertise and outreach to customers
+ Develop a thought leadership program
+ Represent Morningstar research via speaking engagements and media appearances
+ Ongoing recruitment and development of commodity and energy analysts
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree; advanced degrees and certifications are desirable.
+ Deep knowledge of the North American ISO market (PJM, NYISO)
+ High-level academic and professional qualifications are desired with at least five years of analytical or investment consulting experience.
+ Independent, experienced researcher who is familiar with the North American Power market.
+ Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team that includes investment experts, qualitative researchers, data analysts, and software developers.
+ Superior oral and written communication skills in English.
+ Excellent time management skills.
