About The Position

Raise is searching for an Engineering Manager to lead the Quality Engineer team at Raise. If you’re a technologist that is passionate about the craft of testing, you have the technical skills to leverage automation in your craft, and you are equally excited about the development and mentorship of a team, we want to talk to you.

Quality Engineers at Raise are spread across our product development teams. As the Quality Engineering Manager, you will be an active contributor in our product development environment while also taking an active stance on the development, mentorship , and growth of the Quality Engineers you will lead. This position reports to the Head of Engineering and is responsible for providing visibility into the performance and success of their team. This requires a unique balance of technology leadership, Agile principles, and product sense—so the ideal candidate will have experience establishing testing standards and best practices for web based and mobile applications, while collaborating across high performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire exceptional engineering talent and facilitate onboarding of new team members
  • Guide, mentor, manage and develop a high-performance team
  • Manage exploratory and automated testing efforts of the QA Engineering Team
  • Foster and develop the testing culture at Raise by mentoring others, and staying up to date with the latest Quality Assurance methodology and technology
  • Conceptualize, design, and implement test automation infrastructure
  • Set quality standards across all tiers of the application development stack
  • Oversee the quality of tests written by both QA and Dev teams
  • Certify the integrity of the code promoted to production environments
  • Provide technical and non-technical guidance to the team, both individually and as a group
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members
  • Drive down cost and time of delivery through ongoing improvements to continuous delivery technologies
  • Provide regular, consistent feedback to team members as well as overall performance reviews

Skills & Qualifications

  • Natural leader with a strong love for people development and management
  • Deep understanding of testing principles, methods, and processes in an Agile environment
  • Desired 3+ years of collaborative team leadership experience with 3 or more direct reports
  • Desired 5+ years of test engineering experience, preferably testing web and/or mobile applications
  • Continuous integration experience, Jenkins preferred, creating and managing automated test builds
  • Experience in developing automated solutions to validate API/RESTful Web services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a cross-functional Agile environment
  • Promote development best practices, such as TDD, and pair programming, in a fast-paced Agile environment with ability to coach novice developers on the topics
  • Great organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep teams engaged
  • BS or MS in Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
